After training in Fashion and Interior Design at London College of Fashion and St Martins, I set up my Interior Design Business in 1994.

We moved to our converted barn office in 1997 where we have refurbished the building to house our library of fabric books, wallpapers, furniture and lighting. From this base, we have been able to deliver our philosophy of helping our clients explore their own style, so that we can deliver it.

Since our humble beginnings the Julia Clare has gone from strength to strenth. Through our wonderfully loyal client base, we have been fortunate enough to meet some amazing people, travel the world and enjoy working on some fantastic and unique projects.

2009 has seen the launch of our SewSimple curtain kits, which enable anyone to pick their choice of fabric and make wonderful curtains at home. Feedback has been fantastic and it's another great way of getting top end design into your home through your own creativity.

Charlotte Smith

Hi, I'm Charlotte and run the workrooms at Julia Clare. I originally started out as a dress maker but much like Julia, I was moved into soft furnishing which I've been doing for over 35 years.

Over this time I have taught at colleges, made up for Embassies, celebrities and I have been heading up the workroom for Julia Clare for the past 12 years, and day provided the soft furnishings for photoshoots for many of the top name Fabric brands. One of these photoshoots, for the 2008 Malabar Fabric Range, had me making overcoats for Indian Elephants! Unfortunately they didn't need me there to dress them!

I have been heading up the workroom for Julia Clare for the past 12 years, and day to day I am generally making handmade curtain, blinds and loose covers for our clients. Alongside this I also run the SewSimple Courses, turn Julia's hand-drawn designs into reality and help clients with their soft furnishings. Nicki Waite

I’m Nicky and I head up the office at Julia Clare Designs, so whether its new stock to be bought or organising Julia’s diary – it all comes via me. Although my background is in accounting, I qualified for ISO standards with my own company back in 2006 and I have brought my expertise with me to ensure that its quality every step of the way. I joined Julia Clare in 2007 and have been working solidly towards our goal of improving and maintaining the very high standards that we expect of ourselves here. It’s good to be so involved with the fabrics and design side of the business as well as the office administration – and I love the changing seasons when we get the new collections in. Needless to say I’m constantly wondering which room I’m going to decorate next at home – there’s just too much choice in this job!
